The Wonder of the World Quilt Block creates a very lovely and very different design. This handsome coverlet is fascinating to make, whether you’re a novice or expert at quilt-making.

Quilt Size: Without Border – 60” x 96”; With Border – 72” x 108”.
Size and Number of Blocks: 40 Blocks, each 12 inches square.

E, F, G, and H are quilted is diagonal 1” squares. Remainder is quilted about 1/4” from each seam.

Fabric:

(All yardages specified are approximate, of 36” wide fabrics.)
3 1/4 yards each of White and Green
2 yards of Green for Border

Lining – Percale sheet; launder and cut to size.

Pieced Block:

Make 20 each of Blocks A and B, following diagrams given below.

Setting Quilt:

Starting with Block A and alternating with Block B, make 4 A-strips, each 5 blocks across; make 4 B-strips, each 5 blocks across, starting with Block B and alternating with Block A. Stitch strips together, starting with A-strip, alternating with B-strips.

Border:

Cut material into 7” wide strips, seam together to form one long strip. Stitch around outside edge of quilt, mitering corners.
