String Quilt Pattern - Clever & Quaint, Printable Quilt Pattern

Quaint and clever is this "String" quilt. It would be good for a beginner, for the lines are all straight ones and the pieces are worked up in such a way that it affords an excellent opportunity for using up odd bits of several left-over materials. Just alternate dark, medium and light colors or prints.

To keep same uniformity to your quilt, we suggest that the large four-pointed star in the center of each block be made of the same color. This will tend to hold the quilt together and give it some "rhyme and reason". The same color may be repeated at intervals in the "string" pieces if one wishes.

The blocks are made the same and when set together the four corners form eight-sided wheels made up of several different colorings or materials. As in all quilts, it is important to cut and sew the pieces carefully.

Finished blocks are 15 inches square. A quilt, 5 blocks wide and 6 blocks long, would measure 75 by 90 inches. For a larger quilt a border could be added.
