No list of quilt favorites would be complete without a basket and this May Basket quilt block is just the thing for you who have many pretty prints in your scrap bags.

The pieced block is 8 inches square (finished size). The blocks are set on the diagonal alternately with plain blocks, half blocks and corner blocks. We think a saw-tooth edge of plain and print triangles would be an attractive border.

With 63 pieced blocks, 48 plain, 28 half blocks and 4 corner blocks the quilt will measure 77 by 99 inches. If you add a saw-tooth border made of triangles from piece “B”, the quilt will measure approximately 83 1/2 by 105 1/5 inches.

The plain blocks offer an opportunity for a special quilting motif; the pieced blocks should be quilted along seam lines.
