Use modern supplies like fusible webbing to position and secure your appliqués to the quilt. Use a simple zigzag or satin stitch to conceal the raw edges of the appliqué pieces. Hand stitching is the traditional method and the edges are finished with decorative embroidery.

Amish Quilt Patterns Many free Amish patterns are simple squares, rectangles and triangles that are quick to cut out and assemble. Other patterns have appliqué motifs that are fun and challenging.
